Keep the doors open

It is therefore advisable to put the hand close in front of the mouth while coughing or sneezing. If the doors and windows are closed, the viruses ejected out when a patient inside the house coughs or sneezes, do not find a way out, with the result that others in the house may be affected. That is why, if there is someone in the house suffering from cold, keep all the doors and windows open so that the polluted air may go out and fresh air may come in.

Comedy films

Seeing comedy films, listening or reading jokes cheer up which in turn increase the production Immunoglobulin relating to immune system, according to research. So, if we see comedies and keep ourselves cheerful, the immune system will become strong and we will be out of reach of symptoms like cold. Take plenty of water: Plenty water, tea, fruit juice and such other liquid food will keep us away from an attack of cold say the results. Suppose the cold viruses have settled down in the throat, if you drink plenty of water or other liquids, this liquid, as it goes down, flushes those viruses also into the stomach and there the powerful juices secreted will destroy them.

Regular exercise

Regular exercise strengthens the Immune system in us and it, in turn, keeps us away from such symptom like cold. However, too much exercise should be avoided. It must be regular, methodical and limited. Walking, jogging, swimming, cycling etc., for about half an hour will be enough. If you exceed the limit, you will be inviting cold. Stress: When you are subjected to stress for example, when you are preparing for your examination or when beset with serious problems, there is every chance of catching cold. It is because stress acts on and affects the immune system. Meditation, softy music, yoga will release the mind, give peace and tranquility and keep the stress away from us.

“You will get it when you kiss.” True- Only in 10% of the cases. Cold does not spread through saliva. When two persons kiss, their nose come close- so close that the virus can jump from one nose to the other. “If you expose yourself to cold weather….” We think so. But, the truth is that the people living in the cold Polar Regions where snow falls, rarely catch cold. Only people like us who live in hot regions suffer from it.

There are a number of baseless beliefs about cold among people. When you know the fact and realize whether they are true or not, such misconceptions will vanish. “If you get drenched in rain, you will get cold.” Not true. Simply because you are drenched, you need not catch cold. In fact, cold is an indoor disease – that is, you get it while you are inside. Cold viruses need Moist Heat to grow and multiply. So, when it is raining outside, you are naturally inside your home. In your room where there is moist warmth, the virus walks up to you and embraces your nose with all its affection.
